Climbing Lessons
Watching a mountain climber scale a steep granite slope can teach us a number of lessons. The first might be that there is no shortcut to the top. Every climber—no matter how experienced—starts in the same place, at the bottom. |

Another lesson might be that no mountain is ever scaled all at once. The summit is reached only after a number of small actions are accomplished. An expert mountain climber is someone who has mastered these small actions and doesn’t stop performing these simple actions until they’ve reached the peak.
In fact, they continue performing these same small actions even while experiencing some very difficult obstacles. Rain, snow, ice, cold, exhaustion, not enough air, and numerous other difficulties don’t seem to discourage or slow most expert mountain climbers. |

The simple actions a climber takes might be summarized into two steps, they: |

- look up
- reach and pull themselves up
|
So in a way, an entire mountain can be scaled by looking up, reaching and pulling ourselves up, then looking up, and reaching and pulling ourselves up, over and over again.

Learning to Climb Our Own Mountains
Although many of us don’t live near a mountain, most of us have dreams of things we’d like to accomplish in our lives. In a way, we daily stand at the base of a mountain of our own choosing, wanting to reach the summit, yet we feel powerless when it comes to climbing to the top.

A mountain climber doesn’t look up and reach and pull himself up only to end up at the beach, or home in bed. If a climber repeats those simple actions over and over, the only outcome can be that he or she reaches the top of the mountain.

(Chapter 4 of the Bios Life Franchise Manual) Barbara is a certified personal trainer, an educator and a public speaker. She began her career with a Masters Degree in teaching and a number of years in the elementary school classroom. |

She is the founder and president of Diversified Natural Healthcare, Inc., a private company that offers wellness education programs to individuals, corporations and organizations.
She served as the Administrator of a large multi-site Medical and Surgical Practice in South Florida for over a decade.
Barbara is a graduate of The Fitness Institute International with a degree as a Certified Personal Trainer Specialist. She is certified with ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine) and NSCA (The National Strength and Conditioning Association). Through the ACE (American Council on Exercise), she is also certified as a Lifestyle and Weight Management Consultant.
As a personal trainer, Barbara is certified to work with special populations, those who are over 50 years old, or with challenges such as diabetes, post re-habilitation or osteoporosis. In addition to her busy private practice, she serves as the Nutrition and Exercise Counselor for the leading age management clinic in the country in their Boca Raton facility.

She practiced securities law for eight years in New York and Florida, specializing in health care finance.
