Clinical Results of Bios Life Presented at American Heart Association Annual Conference
Dr. Peter Verdegem, Unicity Chief Science Officer, and Franchise Owners Dr. Isabel Martinez, MD, and Bobbi Horne, both from Blue Mesa Medical Associates in Katy, TX, presented the results from a clinical study conducted to study the effect of Bios Life on type 2 diabetes.

The study was conducted on 34 patients who were diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and hypercholesterolemia. The study participants took Bios Life twice daily 15 to 20 minutes before meals. The study measured lipid and glucose levels at the start of the study, and then after 4 weeks, and again after 8 weeks.

The study, entitled “Lipid and Glucose Optimization Using Phytonutrient Combination Therapy in Diabetics” was presented at the American Heart Association Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis, and Vascular Biology Annual Conference held last month in Chicago. See below for clinical abstract.

The study concluded that after taking Bios Life for 8 weeks:

Lipid and Glucose Optimization Using Phytonutrient Combination
Therapy in Diabetes

Isabel Martinez, MD.¹, Bobbi Horne¹, Peter J.E. Verdegem, Ph.D., MBA²
¹Blue Mesa Medical Associates, Katy, TX, ²Unicity International, Orem, UT.

Introduction: Dietary approaches to management of lipid and glucose parameters in diabetes is gaining popularity among patients. Monotherapy with dietary ingredients has shown positive effects, but with limited clinical relevance. Our research focuses on using a phytonutrient combination in optimizing lipid and glucose parameters. All four ingredients have individual data supporting their use for optimizing lipoprotein fractions in hypercholesterolemia. This pilot study evaluates their combined efficacy in type-II diabetes.

Methods: A group of 34 subjects with established type-II diabetes and hypercholesterolemia added the product to their diet. The drink was taken twice daily 15-20 minutes before meals. The fiber drink consists of viscous soluble fiber, minerals, vitamins, policosanol, phytosterols, and an aqueous Chrysanthemum morifolium extract. Lipid and glucose parameters were measured at baseline, 4, and 8 weeks.

Conclusion: Bios Life, a phytonutrient combination drink, shows potential in optimizing parameters associated with cardiovascular disease risk in type-II diabetes. These findings are well in line with previously reported clinical results. The fiber component has reduced the post-prandial glucose levels and the resulting lower HbA1c levels indicate that BiosLife provides a natural option to improve diabetes management.

Type 2 Diabetes
Type 2 diabetes is the most common form of diabetes. When you have type 2 diabetes, your body is unable to properly use the sugar called glucose. Glucose is created when your body breaks down food to use for energy.

Hypercholesterolemia
Hypercholesterolemia is the presence of high levels of cholesterol in the blood. It's not a disease but a metabolic disorder that can be secondary to many diseases and can contribute to many forms of disease, most notably cardiovascular disease.

Glucose
A monosaccharide (or simple sugar), is the most important carbohydrate in biology. It’s the principal circulating sugar in the blood and the major energy source of the body.

HbA1c
Haemoglobin A1c; also known as glycated haemoglobin or HbA1c. The level of HbA1c reflects the average blood glucose level over the past 3 months

Once a hemoglobin molecule is glycated, it remains that way. A buildup of glycated hemoglobin within the red cell reflects the average level of glucose to which the cell has been exposed during its life cycle.

Unicity Donates Refurbished Computers to The Center for Women & Children in Crisis and to The Boys and Girls Club of Utah County, and Alpine House

Over the past several months, Unicity has been replacing and upgrading the staff computers at the company headquarters in Orem, Utah. Which created a problem—what to do with the used computers.

Unicity’s Make Life Better Foundation oversaw the refurbishing of the used computers and monitors and chose three charities that were in desperate need of computers. “The computers could have been sold or junked, but they were put to good use,” said D. Clive Winn, Unicity Vice President, Americas Region. “The needy clients of these organizations will be blessed by this gift. They will have a positive feeling about Unicity and we have done something good for society.”

Veronica Iglesias, Unicity Marketing Intern, helped identify which charities were in need of computers. “When I first joined Unicity, I never thought I’d have the opportunity to give back to the community as we’ve been able to do,” she said. “When we were told about the opportunity to give several dozen computers, I was more than thrilled to take upon the task of searching out different organizations to donate to.”

She continues, “Calling each organization and hearing the enthusiasm in their voices over the phone was one of the sweetest moments I’ve had at work. Knowing that the company I’m involved in cares about the community made such a difference for me.”

The Foundation chose to donate the computers to The Center for Women & Children in Crisis , The Boys and Girls Club of Utah County, and Alpine House.

Ann Schreck, Unicity Global Marketing Manager, said, “Abused women and children flee to The Center for Women & Children in Crisis with nothing other than the clothes on their backs. They don’t have medications, toys, school books, or money. The center offers services ranging from apartments in the compound as a “halfway house” for women to leave their situations, to providing a backpack for children to go to school.”

“The donated computers will help women learn skills, communicate with family, and develop resumes. Children can do homework and play games. In addition, some computers will be used for administrative purposes.”

Clive said, “The Boys and Girls Club of Utah County is expanding in Utah County, and they have had a significant lack of computers that the kids, as well as the staff serving their needs, could use. They were in desperate need. In fact, they had just met to try to determine what they could do, when they received our call and offer of computers!”

“The day we met with each group to donate the computers was cold, wet, and stormy,” said Ann. “The Women’s Center had just a personal truck to load all the equipment in. Unicity employees came in and just started helping move the machines into her truck—some in dress clothes and heels! The Boys and Girls Club of Utah County came at the same time and first loaded her truck before loading their own—it was such a great sight to see!”

Alpine House is a transitional home for individuals with mental illness. Small groups are encouraged to cook dinners, desserts, play games, and teach art and crafts. Other activities include yard work, outdoor painting, renovation, remodeling, and electrical work. “They were badly in need of computers to teach basic computer skills to their residents and for their administration," said Ann.

“Seeing the smiles on all their faces and knowing that we’ve contributed to them was by far the most rewarding thing I’ve done in a long time,” said Veronica.

How to Prepare Yourself Today to Get the Most from The Convention of the Americas

This winter while you sat by the fireplace, did you notice that as the fire burns down, the embers that fall far from the logs quickly fade and cool? Did you know that if you moved those embers close to the fire they’d heat up and start burning brightly again?

The 2007 Orlando Convention of the Americas works the same way!

Franchise Owners from all over the Americas are brought together to strengthen each other so that everyone is burning brightly at the end of the three days.

Here’s what you need to do…

…to make sure you’re burning hot as you leave Orlando!

Before You Go
Look Back:

Have you gone as far as you’d like with your Bios Life Franchise?

Are you bold enough?

What stands out for you?

What have you done with your Franchise that makes you the proudest?

What empowered you to accomplish that?

What real difference did you make to the people around you? To their health? To their financial health?

Have You Registered for The 2007 Orlando Convention of the Americas?
Save $80 Today by Pre-Registering for Convention!

Register Before Tuesday, May 1 for only $119
$199 after April!

Look Forward:

What would you like to accomplish the remainder of this year with your Bios Life Franchise?

What level of income would you like to have?

How much time would you like to devote to your Franchise?

What’s the most exceptional thing you’d like to do with your income and your Franchise?

What can you do this year that no one else would expect from you?

Write down your answers. Be specific.

Now ask:

What do you need to know in order to make these dreams come true?

What do you need to do in order to make these dreams come true?

What tools do you need to use and master to make these dreams come true?

Write down everything that comes to mind.

What parts of your Franchise do you need to improve?

What “dead ends” have you reached and would like some help to figure out your next steps?

Here's Why This Ecercise is Important...

Until you know specifically what you are looking for, you won’t find it. Once you arrive at the Convention you’ll discover that many of the sessions will give you exactly the information that you’re looking for!
