The Inside Story—
Are You Ready to Pay the High Cost of Neglect?
Neglect has a way of finding you sooner or later. Often the consequence of not doing what you should costs more than doing it. Recognize these examples of neglect? |
 |
Cutting corners to save money or time, or even ignorance can eventually burden you with long-term unfortunate consequences.
If Only Your Body Came With an Owner’s Manual
More important—and certainly more complicated than your air conditioner, plumbing, or even your car—is your body.
No, your body didn’t come with an owner’s manual, but thanks to modern science, we know that there are things we should be doing to maintain the health of our bodies, and things we shouldn’t do. For example, we know that smoking isn’t good for you, and we know that exercise is. We know we should enhance our diets with nutritional supplements.
If we go too long neglecting the maintenance of our bodies it can eventually cause health problems—many of them serious. Often, what we don’t know or can’t see can be very damaging.
The Dirty Little Secret
One of the most neglected aspects of your health is what’s on your inside. Keeping the outside of your body clean is a billion dollar industry. Soaps, scrubs, shampoos, toothpastes…whole aisles of grocery stores devoted to keeping you clean on the outside.
Unfortunately, out of sight is out of mind when it comes to internal cleanliness. Granted, there are a lot more pleasant things to talk about than the details of your insides, but neglecting your internal health and cleanliness has its consequences.
Toxins, Pollutants, and Parasites—Oh, My!
Never before has mankind been bombarded with so many toxins and pollutants. They’re in the air, in the food we eat, and the water we drink. We’re not even safe in our own homes: cleaners, deodorizers, detergents, furniture polish, chemicals in our food and water—even parasites—all are absorbed into our bodies, and we just can’t get rid of them effectively. And eventually, like the furnace filter, or the kitchen pipes, or the neglected car engine, our bodies can develop serious health problems.
Good health begins on the inside. The first step in achieving and sustaining good health is cleansing and detoxification on the inside. In order for your cells and organs to function properly—let alone optimally—you must cleanse your systems of toxins, pollutants, and parasites. |

The Toxic Cycle Goes ‘Round and ‘Round
Your body's primary organs are engaged in two vital tasks: taking in what the body needs, and getting rid of what the body doesn't need.
Most people focus on improving what they bring in—like the nutritional quality of their food and the cleanliness of their air and water. But it is equally important to assist your body in getting rid of what it doesn't need.
Over time, toxification from environmental pollutants and an imbalanced diet can lead to uneliminated waste turning toxic in the system and accumulating on the intestinal walls. This accumulation blocks your body's ability to absorb needed nutrients from food passing through the system and slows the passage of food allowing for even more putrification, which in turn leads to more toxic accumulation.
Often referred to as self-poisoning, or auto-intoxification, this debilitating cycle begins to poison vital bodily organs at the source, limiting their ability to self cleanse.
Cleanse Your Way Back to Optimal Health
At this point, your body needs help from an external source, such as herbs, fiber, and other purifying agents, to regain its proper balance between accumulation and elimination.
Without internal cleansing, a toxic body experiences symptoms such as weight gain, mood swings, headaches, poor circulation, cellulite, low immunity, sugar cravings, anxiety, body odor, bad breath, bloating, poor digestion, confusion, memory loss, premature aging, lethargy, and stiff joints.
Internal cleansing allows you to experience immediate results, often leading to better overall health, vitality, and a stronger sense of wellbeing than you’ve previously experienced.
Meet the Ultimate Cleansing System
Discover the most effective system developed to help you cleanse your insides. The Unicity Cleanse system is scientifically proven, nutritionally sound, and effective. Hundreds of personal testimonials demonstrate how we have changed the quality of people’s lives. We’ve designed our Cleanse products with a complete system approach that delivers sustainable, long-term, life-changing results. Our Cleanse products include LiFiber®, Nature’s Tea®, Paraway Plus®, and ChloroPlasma®. We have conveniently combined LiFiber, Nature’s Tea, and Paraway Plus in the Paraway® Pack system (Clearstart® in Canada). Paraway Pack is a revolutionary system to rid your body of wastes, unwanted organisms and to keep your gastrointestinal system running smoothly. This 3-step system will scrub your intestinal walls to remove toxins and debris, neutralize unwanted organisms, and flush them out. The three components in this system are LiFiber, Nature's Tea and Paraway Plus. Together they work in harmony to revitalize your body. |
 |
LiFiber is a psyllium-based powder drink mix that can be added to water, juice or the beverage of your choice. The psyllium base provides eight times more soluble fiber than oat bran. Studies indicate that soluble fiber may help reduce blood cholesterol, while insoluble fiber passes quickly through the digestive system and helps clear the colon of toxins and other wastes. In cleansing the body of parasites, insoluble fiber is vital, in that it takes with it the paralyzed parasites, bacteria and fungi and eliminates them from your body. Think of LiFiber as a scrub brush for your digestive system. |
 |
Nature's Tea improves regularity and colon functions. Constipation becomes a problem when transit time is slowed, bringing with it numerous health concerns. Sometimes the body's systems need a little help to get things moving again, and Nature's Tea supports this natural process. The main ingredient in Nature's Tea is Senna Leaf, an ancient herb known for its laxative action. |
 |
Paraway Plus puts Black Walnut Hulls to work killing many kinds of intestinal worms, especially tapeworms. The active ingredient, jugione, exerts antifungal, antiparasite, antiviral, and antibacterial effects. Also included is Pumpkin seed, an important ingredient that paralyzes rather than kills the parasites. Together these ingredients arm your body with a great weapon for removing parasites. |
|
ChloroPlasma® supports the cleansing process as nutritional deficiencies can interfere with the body's efforts to detoxify. The human body requires a regular supply of essential nutrients, many of which are deficient in our daily diet but can be supplied with whole-food herbs.
ChloroPlasma provides the body with pure salt-water blue-green algae often referred to as a 'superfood' because of its nutrient-density and health-giving properties. The particular form of algae used in ChloroPlasma is Spirulina. Spirulina is a protein packed food containing up to 76% biologically complete protein (compared to beef's 22% protein).
Don’t Neglect Your Body for Another Minute

How to Make Better Gut Decisions
Improving your digestive health can improve your life.
Ever make a “gut decision?” You might not have been far off. Medical science has proven that there’s a “brain” or nervous system in the bowel. This nervous system is able to mediate reflexes in the digestive system without input from the brain or spinal cord.
As a result, the “nervous system in the gut” is able to accomplish some very important jobs without conscious thought. One such job is warning us when our digestive system is in trouble. Most people know something is wrong in the gut when they experience such symptoms as pain, heartburn, gas, or diarrhea—these are the gut’s way of making us aware that we do have feelings there and that something is amiss.
The deterioration of the digestive system can occur silently for years, producing no symptoms or only minor, non-specific ones. Headaches, reduced energy, lowered resistance to infections, gas, bloating, constipation, and indigestion—these can be a prelude to the onset of chronic disease, which has its roots in the digestive system not functioning efficiently.
Unfortunately, many of us wait until we experience serious health concerns before we consider a healthy digestive system regimen. What follows are some general guidelines for keeping your digestive system in good health or restoring it to good health: |
-
Begin a regular digestive system regimen by integrating the Unicity Digestive Health System into your life.
-
Eat a well balanced diet of whole, natural, unprocessed food—preferably organic.
-
Avoid large meals.
-
Drink ½ oz. of water for every pound of body weight. (Divide your body weight in half, and drink that many ounces of water daily.)
-
Avoid eating two to three hours before going to bed.
-
Identify and eliminate foods to which you’re allergic.
-
Exercise on a regular basis.
-
Minimize (or eliminate) use of alcohol and caffeine.
-
Chew thoroughly.
-
Avoid carbonated drinks.
-
Avoid the use of sugar and artificial sweeteners.
-
Rest after meals whenever possible to aid absorption.
-
Get adequate rest at night, preferably 8 hours of sleep.
-
Don’t eat when upset.
-
Minimize stress in your life.
-
Reduce or eliminate exposure to environmental toxins.

Do you need to have a bowel movement every day in order to be considered regular? Not necessarily. The normal frequency of bowel movements varies widely — from three a day to three a week. What's normal for you may not be normal for someone else. In general, though, you're probably constipated if you pass hard and dry stools less than three times a week. In some cases you may also feel bloated or sluggish or experience discomfort or pain.
Fortunately, a few common-sense lifestyle changes, including getting more exercise, eating high-fiber foods and drinking plenty of water, can go a long way toward preventing or alleviating many cases of constipation.
Signs and Symptoms
Not having a bowel movement every day doesn't necessarily mean you're constipated. You're likely constipated, however, if you: |
-
Pass a hard stool fewer than three times a week
-
Strain frequently during bowel movements
-
Have abdominal bloating or discomfort
|
Causes
Normally, the waste products of digestion are propelled through your intestines by muscle contractions. In the large intestine, most of the water and salt in this mixture is reabsorbed because they're essential for many of your body's functions. If too much water is absorbed or if the waste moves too slowly, you may become constipated.
A number of factors can cause an intestinal slowdown, including inadequate fluid intake, a low-fiber diet, inattention to bowel habits, age, lack of physical activity, depression, pregnancy, illness—even stress.
Many medications, including those used to treat Parkinson's disease, high blood pressure and depression, also can cause constipation. The same is true of many narcotics. And frequent use of laxatives often aggravates and may even eventually cause constipation.
In rare cases constipation may signal more serious medical conditions, such as colorectal cancer or hormonal or electrolyte disturbances. See a doctor immediately if you feel you have one or more of these conditions.
Sometimes young children are constipated because they forget to take time to use the toilet. And your toddler might become constipated during toilet training if he or she is afraid or unwilling to use the toilet. |
Risk Factors
You're more likely to have problems with constipation if you’re an older adult, are sedentary or bedridden, eat a diet that's low in fiber or don't drink enough fluids. You're also at risk if you take certain medications, including sedatives or narcotics, or you're having chemotherapy.
If you're pregnant, you may have bouts of constipation because of hormonal changes. Later in your pregnancy, pressure on your intestines from your uterus also can cause constipation.
Treatment
Changes in your lifestyle may be the safest way to manage constipation. To help ease symptoms, try using a fiber supplement, such as LiFiber. This natural supplement helps make stools softer and is safe to use every day. Be sure to drink plenty of water or other fluids every day and add fiber to your diet slowly to avoid problems with gas.*
If you're pregnant — and in general — it's a good idea to check with your doctor before using any laxatives other than fiber supplements. Try eating lots of high-fiber foods, such as fruits, vegetables and whole grains. It's a good idea to check the content of prepared foods because not all foods claiming to be high in fiber actually are. Drink plenty of fluids and get as much exercise as you can. Swimming and walking are good choices.
|
Prevention
To help prevent constipation: |
-
Eat fiber regularly. Choose lots of high-fiber foods, including fruits, vegetables, beans and whole-grain cereals and breads. Experiment to see if particular fruits or vegetables have a laxative effect for you.
-
Limit problem foods. Foods that are high in fat and sugar and those that tend to be low in fiber content, such as eggs and dairy foods, may cause or aggravate constipation.
-
Drink plenty of liquids. The exact amount of water and other fluids you should drink each day varies and depends on your age, sex, health, activity level and other factors.
-
Increase your physical activity. Engage in regular exercise such as walking, biking or swimming on most days.
-
Heed nature's call. The longer you delay going to the toilet once you feel the urge, the more water that's absorbed from the stool and the harder it becomes.

Bacteria That’s Good For You?
|
Would it surprise you to learn that each of us has literally hundreds of species of bacteria inhabiting our intestines?
Did you know that a healthy human digestive system provides a home and food to over 400 species of bacterial? For the most part, a healthy person lives in harmony with their intestinal flora. The bacteria, which in a healthy person will be predominantly "friendly" types, do a myriad of health-promoting things for the person, including detoxification, the production of vitamins, and protecting us from unfriendly organisms. This state is called “symbiosis.”
Sometimes symbiosis doesn’t exist because of the presence of pathogenic (disease-causing) organisms—the overgrowth of unfriendly organisms that are often not considered pathogenic, or the absence of friendly bacteria. Then, dys-symbiosis, or "dysbiosis" exists.
Some of these organisms are not considered pathogenic by conventional medicine. However, weak pathogens, or a predominance of "unfriendly" organisms can cause severe illness in a chronically ill, weakened, or malnourished person. The eradication of these organisms can make a dramatic difference in the person's health.
A very common cause of bacterial or fungal dysbiosis is often the repeated or long-term use of antibiotics. Antibiotics kill both the bacteria you want them to kill and the "friendly" bacteria in the intestine and the vagina. This leaves these areas open to be colonized by yeast, unfriendly bacteria, and parasites.
Treatment of dysbiosis usually consists of a period of parasite cleansing followed by a regular course of probiotics. Because maintaining your body’s natural balance of friendly bacteria is one of the primary keys to long-term good health and well being, probiotics should be a part of your everyday regimen. |
