Retinol Serum for men and women offers anti-aging in a
bottle by combining powerful ingredients that revitalize, rebuild, restore,
and renew the skin. Through proprietary Non-Oxidizing Lipid Matrix Technology,
Unicity™ brings you the first stabilized form of retinol, the biologically
active form of vitamin A that delivers beautiful, smooth, revitalized
skin. Retinol works to exfoliate dead and damaged skin cells and stimulate
the body's production of collagen, one of the key building blocks of skin.
This sloughing and rebuilding action can make wrinkles less severe and
reduce the appearance of splotchiness, age spots, and sun damage. With
Retinol Serum, you can reawaken your beauty and renew the
vitality of your skin!
Retinol is difficult to deliver effectively. Retinol Serum
overcomes this problem with a special delivery system. We combine retinol
with lipids under high pressure to make a Temporary Occlusive Film that
protects the retinol and enhances retinol penetration at greater potency.
This innovative, proprietary process is called Non-Oxidizing Lipid Matrix
Technology.
Directions for Use:
Apply only at night on cleansed skin, preferably 30 minutes before bedtime.
Initially apply every third night. For sensitive skin, reduce frequency
of use. To apply, pool appropriate amount in palm and use fingertips to
spread serum all over face, under eyes, and on neck and chest. When first
applied, the serum forms the Temporary Occlusive Film, but it absorbs
in 10-15 minutes and leaves skin feeling silky.
Research Brief
The skin is considered an organ because its tissues work together to
accomplish specific biological functions. In the average adult, the skin
has a surface area of about 3,000 square inches. The skin not only helps
hold the body together and protect against abrasion, bacteria, dehydration,
and UV radiation, but it also performs several other roles that are essential
to health, including body temperature regulation, stimuli reception, excretion
through perspiration, and vitamin D synthesis.
The skin is made up of three layers: the epidermis, dermis, and hypodermis.
The epidermis has several layers and four distinct kinds of cells. New
skin cells form in the epidermis' deepest layer and take about two weeks
to move to the skin surface, where they are eventually exfoliated off.
The dermis consists mainly of collagen and elastin, two fibers that provide
the skin's structural framework and allow the skin to stretch and return
to its original shape. Collagen, which accounts for about a third of the
body's total protein, is also found in bone, cartilage, tendons, ligaments,
and other body tissues. The hypodermis, which is composed primarily of
adipose tissue and blood vessels, acts as a cushion for the body's internal
structure.
Skin is constantly aging, but the aging process begins accelerating in
a person's late 40s. The collagen fibers start to decrease, stiffen, break
apart, and lose their collective shape. The elastin fibers lose their
stretchy properties, thicken into clumps, and fray. As a result of these
changes, skin becomes wrinkled and discolored. Sun damage is one of the
main culprits in premature aging of the skin.
FAQs
Q: Will Retinol Serum make my skin more sensitive
to the sun?
A: Retinoids can sensitize the skin to UV rays, so you are advised
to use sun block during the application period and for at least three
weeks after discontinuing the product.
Q: Can Retinol Serum be used along with Be Night
Recovery Serum or other products that contain alpha hydroxy acids?
A: It is recommended that alpha hydroxy acid products be avoided
while using Retinol Serum.
Q: What if I have sensitive skin?
A: If you know you have sensitive skin, apply a small amount of
Retinol Serum in a sensitive area and then wait four hours.
If there is no reaction, then you can proceed to use the product twice
a week and slowly increase frequency. If irritation results, reduce frequency
of use.
Q: Can Retinol Serum be used along with
Mineral Mask?
A: Yes, they can be used together.
Q: If I'm using a prescription medication for my skin, can I use
Retinol Serum as well?
A: It is best not to use Retinol Serum in combination
with prescription medications for the skin. After you discontinue use
of the prescription medications, check with your dermatologist to determine
how long you should wait before using Retinol Serum.
